3 Easy Ways To Level Up Your Friendship Game
Here are three tips to help level up your friendship game …
1. Ask two questions instead of one. Asking someone one question can make the exchange feel transactional. Listen to their answer and ask a follow-up question to help build connection.
2. Join In. This is the easiest and most effective way to meet new friends. Joining a club or a team creates an immediate sense of belonging and allows you to make friends over time by seeing the same people on a regular basis. You’ll also have a shared interest!
3. Take out your Airpods. Communication expert Vanessa Van Edwards warns that Airpods are killing spontaneous micro-moments of connection. Whether you have them in at work, at uni, walking the dog or on the train – you may as well have a do not disturb sign hanging off your face. Friendships are built in small moments – be open to small moments. Those incidental “hellos” can lead to big friendships.
Friendships have a profound impact on our mental health and our ability to cope with life’s overwhelm and stress. Remember that friendships require effort and by putting the work in to build a handful of authentic, loyal, robust friendships in your life will make your life infinitely happier and richer.
